Air monitoring station at the Arava Institute

In collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Arava Institute has established an air monitoring station in our Research & Visitors’ Park. The station will be part of the country-wide air monitoring network that collects, processes, and documents air samples, publishing data on air quality and air quality forecasts.

The station at the Arava Institute measures the most important and major pollutants in the air, such as sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO), and breathable particles. These pollutants are considered indicators of the presence of additional contaminants in the atmosphere and are defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) as Criteria Pollutants.
