Some organizations, including members of the Jewish Federations of North America, offer scholarships for local students or residents of their area who are interested in Israel work or study. The list below is an incomplete list of possible scholarship offerings; please contact your local Jewish Federation if you do not see your state listed below.

We also recommend contacting the local office of The Rotary Foundation in your home or college town.

Jewish Federation of Arkansas: Scholarships for young adults in Arkansas may be available through the Thalheimer Israel Scholarship Fund.

Canada

Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver: The Jewish Federation offers need-based scholarships for programs in Israel. More information can be found here.

Jewish Federation of Ottawa: The federation offers grants for students from Ottawa who are looking to study in Israel.

Jewish Foundation of Manitoba: The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba offers scholarships for students studying in Israel. Applicants must be residents of Manitoba. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Students must apply online and the application period opens mid-December and closes March 31 of any given year. Scholarships are based on financial need, academics and community/volunteer service.


Connecticut

Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven: Information on scholarships for students from the New Haven area can be found here.


Colorado

Young Women’s Scholarship Fund: Jewish women between the ages of 21 and 45 who are Colorado residents may be eligible for scholarships through this fund at JewishColorado.

Jewish Federation of Delaware: Scholarships may be available for Delaware residents who meet certain qualifications.

Jewish Social Service Agency: Scholarships may be available for residents of Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.

Florida

Greater Miami Jewish Federation: Miami-Dade County residents or students between the ages of 15 and 26 are eligible for scholarships.

Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County: Students may be eligible for financial assistance from the Jacobson Jewish Community Foundation Scholarships.


Georgia

Augusta Jewish Federation: Scholarships may be available for students from the Augusta area studying in Israel.


Illinois

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago: There are two different Israel Experience scholarships that students from the Chicago area can apply to. Click here for information about financial need-based scholarships and here for information about merit based scholarships.

The Farther Foundation: Need-based travel grants may be available for high school students in the Chicago area.

Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana: Scholarships may be available for students from Northwest Indiana studying in Israel.


Kansas

Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City: Funds may be available for college students from Kansas City studying in Israel.


Kentucky

Jewish Federation of the Bluegrass: Funds may be available for college students from central Kentucky studying in Israel.

Maryland

Jewish Social Service Agency: Scholarships may be available for residents of Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.

Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston: Students with a Boston connection can apply for up to $500 toward Masa approved programs.

Harold Grinspoon Foundation: Funding may be available for residents of Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont.

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit: Scholarships may be available to people ages 13-29 through the Federation’s Get There! program.


Minnesota

Minneapolis Jewish Federation: Scholarships may be available for students from Minneapolis studying in Israel.


Nebraska

Jewish Federation of Omaha: Students from Omaha are encouraged to contact the federation to find out more information about possible scholarships for study abroad.


Nevada

New Hampshire

Jewish Federation of New Hampshire: Funds may be available for students from New Hampshire studying in Israel.


New Jersey

Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey: Students from Southern New Jersey are encouraged to contact the federation to find out more information about possible scholarships for study abroad.


New Mexico

Jewish Community Foundation of New Mexico: Students may be eligible for a variety of funding options for travel to Israel.

Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester: Students from the Rochester area are encouraged to contact the federation to find out more information about possible scholarships for study abroad.

Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York: Need-based scholarships may be available for applicants that live in the Federation covered area. The federation covered area reaches as far south as Catskill, as far north as Lake George and Glens Falls, as far west as Schenectady, and as far east as Troy.

The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies: Scholarships may be available from the Israel Scholarship Committee for students with connections to the Erie or Niagara County regions of New York.

North Carolina

Greensboro Jewish Federation: Grants and scholarships may be available for students who reside in or around Greensboro and are Federation members. Information about the application and interview process which can be found here.

Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte: Scholarships may be available to students interested in an Israel experience.

Jewish Federation of Cincinnati: Israel Travel Grants of up to $5,000 may be available for permanent residents of Cincinnati between the ages of 18-26 for a minimum two week Israel experience.

Oregon Jewish Community Foundation: Scholarships and grants are available through several Jewish and secular grant programs.

Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia: Israel scholarships are offered for Philadelphia residents. They are need-based and range from $500 to $1,500.

Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh: Scholarships may be available for students in the Pittsburgh area of up to $1,750.


Rhode Island

Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island: Scholarships may be available for students from Rhode Island studying in Israel.


Tennessee

Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga: Scholarships may be available for individuals from the Chattanooga area participating in organized trips or specific educational opportunities to travel or study in Israel.

Memphis Jewish Federation: Young adults living in Memphis (age 18-26) may be eligible for up to $4000 in grant funding. The grants are not need-based and any young adult in the Memphis Jewish community is eligible for the funding.


Texas

Jewish Federation of Greater Houston: Jewish college and graduate school students, and people who have graduated college within the past 3 years, may apply for funding.
