Dead Sea and Arava Science Center

Director: Dr. Hanan Ginat

The Dead Sea and Arava Science Center, which operates under the auspices of the Israeli Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport, and in partnership with the Arava Institute, focuses on applicable research projects unique to the Dead Sea-Arava Rift Valley.

Founded in 2007, the Science Center sponsors projects integrating local scientists and lead investigators from established research institutions, enriching both the national scientific community and the local population. The Center’s activities are designed to develop the scientific, social, and economic potential of the region, forming a base for sustainable development.

Research fields include geology, hydrology, geomorphology, archaeology, biology, and ecology, and their applications. Many projects are conducted with partners from the Jordanian side of the Rift Valley. The Arava Institute has developed a close partnership with the Dead Sea and Arava Science Center, combining valuable expertise in the Arava and Dead Sea region.
