Register now for the Arava Challenge! 

The Arava Institute is excited to launch the Arava Challenge, a one-day ride from Arad to the Dead Sea to support trans-boundary cooperation and environmental awareness. AIES alumni from Israel, Palestine and Jordan will guide the journey together with AIES staff and faculty.

Riders meet, registration and snacks

Cars will be parked at the Delek gas station in Shefech Zoharand riders will board the bus with their bikes.

Bus ride to Arad

Safety instructions, ride beings

Lead riders will provide guidance on the route

The cycling route is about 35 kilometers long. There will be 2 short breaks along the route for riders to rest. The convoy will be accompanied at all times by an escort vehicle with first aid equipment and cold water. The lead rider will also be joined by a mechanic in case of malfunctions.

  All riders receive: 
  • Professional riding shirt
  • Meals, snacks, water
  • Technical assistance
  • Standby medical assistance
  • Equipment and guides
  • Customized personal training program before the ride
  • Option to rent a bicycle for NIS 60 a day, on the day of or ahead of the ride
  • Assistance in planning activities and lodging at the Dead Sea following the ride

Important: All riders MUST ride with a helmet. Riders must provide their own helmets and tubes. AIES will not be able to provide these.
