Arava Institute Funding Resources

The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies hopes to provide all qualified and motivated students with the opportunity to learn and grow at the Arava Institute. These scholarship opportunities may assist with the cost of tuition.

Funding for Students from North America

Some scholarships, including the Schor Scholarship for North American students, have cutoff dates to be considered for these merit-based awards. Please complete your application no later than April 15 (for the fall semester) and November 15 (for the spring semester) if you would like to be considered for additional scholarships.

Location-based Israel Scholarships: Some philanthropies, organizations, and Jewish Federations have scholarship funding for students studying in or originally from their city. For more information, click here.

American Jewish League, Israel University Scholarship 
Provides eligible students scholarships to attend Israeli universities.

Amy Adina Schulman Memorial Fund
Offers small grants (generally around $500-$1,500) to individuals volunteering full-time for a progressive social justice program or project.

Arab America
Arab America provides the latest information on scholarships, internships and fellowships for Arab American students and young professionals.

Benjamin Gilman Scholarship
The Gilman Scholarship Program provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two- or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Davis Putter Scholarships
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to university students who are part of the progressive movement on campus or the community, actively working for peace and justice.

Diversity Abroad Scholarships
Diversity Abroad offers a directory of scholarships for students of all backgrounds and experience levels to participate in international opportunities.

The Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies
The Israel Scholarship Committee of the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies administers a limited amount of financial assistance for high school and college students to travel and study in Israel.

Fulbright Scholarships
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Go Overseas Scholarships
Go Overseas offers scholarships throughout the year for various programs, as well as detailed funding guides.

Human Rights Campaign

The HRC advocates on behalf of LGBTQ+ Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair- minded individuals to office and educates the public about LGBTQ+ issues. They a provide scholarship database for students of a variety of backgrounds.

Masa is the global leader in immersive international career development and leadership experiences in Israel for young Jewish adults from around the world.

With a variety of long-term programs in Israel, Masa is able to provide meaningful, enriching experiences to young Jews from many different countries, backgrounds, levels of education, and fields.

Point Foundation

The Point Foundation (Point) is the largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ+ students of merit in the United States.

Rainbow Scholarship

The Rainbow Scholarship awards deserving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) students who aim to participate in high-quality, rigorous education abroad programs. To be considered for the Rainbow Scholarship, applicants must self-identify on the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) scholarship application.
