Dr. Gabi Banet received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science- Israel. He did his post-doctoral research in the School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Interuniversity Institute in Eilat. Dr. Banet worked as a research and development researcher in Algatechnologies Ltd. at Kibbutz Ketura as well as at the Southern Arava agricultural R&D station. Currently, Dr. Banet is a researcher at the Dead Sea and Arava Science Center and a lecturer at the Arava Institute. He has published many papers and been approved of 8 grants most of which for the research of algae and cyanobacteria as agents for waste treatment os a source for bioproducts. His research interests include bio-fuels from algae; algal/cyanobacterial physiology; algal biotechnology and growing microbail mats for biofiltering fish effluents and as a fish feed.
