Yesterday we said goodbye to 40 new Arava Institute graduates as the Spring ’16 semester came to an end. The final days were very busy as students and interns transitioned from the last of the final exams on Sunday and Monday straight into semester summary activities and packing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The week followed a successful “AIES Night”, an event which includes the presentation of selected student and intern research as well as other semester highlights and achievements to students, staff and the local community. We were especially pleased to host Dr. Amer Sweity, a Jordanian ’06 alumnus who has just completed his doctorate at Ben Gurion University in Sde Boqer. In addition to the customary audience, the evening was attended by approximately 20 prospective Israeli and Palestinian students participating in an Open Day at the Arava Institute.
We salute the graduates of Spring semester 2016 and look forward to hearing about these most recent participants’ meaningful contributions to their communities, our active alumni network, the region, and the world.
