A message for this year’s spring holidays

This year, as Easter, Eid al-Fitr, Passover, and Earth Day convene within the same period, and spring is blossoming across the region, the signs of war abating seem farther than ever.

Together the holidays of the three main religions of our region remind us of the hope of spring, the importance of charity, and of freedom. Earth Day too celebrates our planet and rights of all people to a sustainable environment.

These holidays arrive in very difficult times for all of us. They are a reminder that while we may be observing our religions’ celebrations, others will not be so fortunate.

Therefore, we call yet again for an urgent ceasefire of all sides, reiterating our call for the immediate protection of all Palestinian and Israeli innocent civilian lives, for urgent steps to de-escalate the situation, and to prevent the continued spiraling to even further tragedy.

We believe and show through our work that a different reality is possible in our region, a reality of compassion, trust, and peace. Ultimately, we strive for regional environmental cooperation that leads to sustainable growth for our region.

For now, as we celebrate our respective holidays with our families and communities, we keep in our hearts those who cannot and wish a season of support and blessings for all.
