Ambassador’s Roundtable on Water Issues in London

On Tuesday, February 16th, Arava Institute Executive Director David Lehrer, and Dr. Clive Lipchin and Suleiman Halasah from the Center for Transboundary Water Management, and Monther Hind, Director of the Palestinian Wastewater Engineering Group, participated in the 7th Ambassador’s Roundtable on Water Innovation and Regional Cooperation in the Water Sector, sponsored by the Anglo-Israel Association and the Arava Institute, at Lancaster House, London, UK. The roundtable was chaired by Lord Bew and formally opened by Eitan Na’eh, Acting Ambassador for Israel to the UK. Topics discussed at the event included possible solutions for water crises from water scarcity to water surplus; innovations in irrigation technologies and techniques for arid zones; and regional water management, specifically agreements between Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority. The day was comprised of an impressive line-up of expert speakers, such as Prof. Paul Whitehead, Professor of Water Science at the School of Geography and the Environment, Oxford University; Prof. Eilon Adar, director of the Zuckerburg Water Resources Institute, Ben Gurion University; and Prof. Alon Tal, Arava Institute founder and Professor at the Bona Terra Department of Man in the Desert, Ben Gurion University.
